Fundamentals are the principles for our basketball decision making and skills are the tools we use to execute those fundamentals.

Offensive Fundamentals

  • Offensive Set

    • What team defense is the opposition running?

    • What set are we running?

    • What is your role?

    • Are they pressing? Are they trapping? Man? 2-3 Zone?

  • Dribbling

    • Dribbling with a purpose

    • When over guarded you need to drive the ball to the basket.

    • Straight line dribble drives

    • Entry dribbles to start offense. Whats the defense playing Man? Zone?

    • Probing dribble to penetrate the paint and draw extra defenders and find open players

    • Drive and kicks

  • Spacing

    • 10 feet pacing to keep gaps open for ball handler lanes to drive

    • Patience in your spot allowing ball time to create

    • When getting denied the past players need screen away or cut to basket. Leave space to create space for teammates to cut into.

  • Rebounding

    • Blocking out ans sealing inside the 15

    • Tag shooter and rebound the ball

    • Who’s rebounding? Who’s breaking out?

    • Who’s getting the outlet?

  • Shooting

    • Great shot selection

    • Shooting Role

  • Transition
